Description du tableau
Résumé : Waste generation in the construction and public works sectors is an issue increasingly integrated by stakeholders in the sector (owners, contractors, enterprises) who, despite the environmental impact that wastes generate, sees it as an economic loss related to their management. Also, waste prevention initiatives implemented locally are not always identified as such by stakeholders because they can be initiated for other reasons related to economic, hygiene, or related to improving the organisation of work.

This study includes :

  • A selection of 20 waste prevention initiatives, presented in the form of case studies summarising the objectives, means of implementation, concerned stakeholders and results (technical, environmental, economic and social) achieved, with the aim to encourage construction and public works stakeholders to engage in similar actions and practices;
  • 9 worksheets of recommendations, elaborated on the basis of feedback studies, for better understanding of what can be waste prevention in construction and public works and facilitate their implementation by stakeholders in the sector. This provides various stakeholders with the key issues to take into account for each phase of the project.
  • the results of initiatives research and the employed methodology to complete the study.

There is a French version.
