This event was intended to show the progress achieved over 40 years of development in renewable energies, but also the energy and climate challenges to be faced before 2050. Indeed, this is the date by which we must have successfully cut our current greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by four to limit global warming below 2℃ above preindustrial levels. 900 scientists gathered to launch an initiative that aimed to promote research on solar energy. They discussed the global scientific, technical, political, economic and social aspects of the various branches in the renewable energies field. The aim was to assess the development of renewable energies, put their contribution to global energy transition into perspective and to call upon increased international solidarity. The proceedings of this event relate the presentations of the various speakers, completed by additional written contributions on renewable energies throughout the world.
