This exploratory study aims to anticipate the impacts of development of connected devices on employment up to 2020, looking at service and maintenance jobs in six product categories: household appliances, consumer electronics, information and telecommunications technology, health and well-being, smart homes and heating systems.
The environmental stakes linked to increased extraction of raw materials and excess waste are high, because many connected devices will be hard to repair if the skills and jobs of repair trades do not adapt to this digital revolution.
